Description

Gdansk is one of the host-cities of the EURO 2012 (European Soccer Championship). Therefore a new stadium – following the UEFA regulations and requirements – is needed.

The award-winning architectural concept for the new stadium “Baltic Arena” including the preliminary design was already done. In addition, a feasibility study for a new land use and functional concept (including a trade fair and exhibition area and a local traffic study) was carried out.

The Environmental Impact Assessment Study (EIA) was part of the documents prepared for the feasibility study and to facilitate the project approval procedure.

The project area comprises the stadium and its surroundings with approx. 12 ha as well as more than 25 ha for transport and parking facilities, trade and commercial zones, hotel and catering trade areas.

DC Water and Environment was partner of a joint venture under the lead of Ernst & Young Financial Services, Warsaw. Our main duties covered general environmental consultancy, accompanying the feasibility study and quality assurance for the EIA.
